Our First Week of Kindergarten! ~ August 28, 2026

What a wonderful start to our school year!

I feel so blessed to partner with you and your children. Each child is a precious gift to our classroom. This week we introduced our school theme, “His Love Endures Forever.” Mrs. Haig led chapel on Thursday and shared more about God's Love and also about HC's 125th Celebration. We will continue to grow in our understanding of God's Love throughout the year, and I’m excited for all that God has in store.

The kindergartners have done an amazing job learning new routines! They were thrilled to earn their first 10-Star Reward this week. For this celebration, we enjoyed extra playtime in the classroom with new play activities on Friday. The children have already made new friends and reconnected with old ones from preschool and young fives. I’m sure they are coming home very tired, but hopefully full of great stories from their first week in kindergarten.

Kings and Queens of Kindergarten

Thursday, we learned that Kings and Queens of Kindergarten are Kind, Caring and Helpful. These are great discussions to continue at home.  How was your child kind today? Did they care for others? Were they helpful today?

Friday Folders

Folders went home today with a few papers from the week. Please return the folder each Monday.

Wednesday Lunch Volunteers

On Wednesdays, teachers meet to plan together. I am looking for a parent volunteer to supervise the class during lunch (11:05–11:35). If you are available, please sign up HERE. Note: A background check must be on file in order to volunteer—forms are available in the office or use this online form.

Batons

If your child attended preschool or young fives at HC, they received a baton at the end of last year. Each year, we collect the batons and keep them with the teacher until the end of the year. At that time, your child will receive the baton back along with a note from me. Please return batons next week if you haven’t already done so.

Beach Towels

If your child has not taken a beach towel to school yet, please send that next week. We are using these for our rest time and will also use them when we go outside for our learning.
